Winston-Salem Comprehensive Treatment Center Review
Located 80 miles northeast of Charlotte, North Carolina in the Piedmont Triad, Winston-Salem Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) is an outpatient treatment facility that specializes in the care of clients over the age of 18 struggling with opioid use disorders. Winston-Salem offers comprehensive Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) that integrates medications with therapeutic methods. The facility utilizes methadone, Subutex and Suboxone for withdrawal. Winston-Salem is under the umbrella of Acadia Healthcare, a Joint Commission and CARF-accredited organization. While medication management and medical services are integral components of the programming, 12-step is not a component of the curriculum. The facility is open in the mornings between 5 and 11 am, Monday to Saturday, and between 6 and 9 am on Sundays.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning treatment, clients undergo a comprehensive intake assessment that includes a complete physical and psychological evaluation as well as a history of substance use and current situation. Based off of these results a personalized care plan is customized to address the specific needs and goals of the person. For pregnant clients, the staff will confer with the individual’s obstetrician before determining the best course of action.
The facility provides medication-assisted care for clients struggling with a range of opioids including heroin, fentanyl and vicodin. Winston-Salem provides methadone treatments to relieve the pain and discomfort of opioid withdrawal. Suboxone is utilized to block the effects of opioids, and Subutex enables clients to focus on their recovery by eliminating symptoms. There is no predetermined treatment length. The number of visits varies from person to person depending on their individual needs.
Winston-Salem understands that medication alone does not cure an addiction. To this end, the facility provides an integrative approach to care that incorporates an array of therapeutic methods into the medical model. In addition to medication, clients engage in regular individual and group therapy as well as support groups. The facility also understands the importance of family involvement when it comes to the success of a sustainable, long-term recovery. To this end, Winston-Salem CTC offers family therapy in order to open lines of communication, reinforce boundaries and nurture positive development.
The Winston-Salem CTC team includes physicians, counselors, addiction specialists and a nursing team. Medication management and medical services are a major component of the programming.
