Compass Intervention Center Outpatient Review
Compass Intervention Center is located in Memphis, Tennessee. It serves as a residential and outpatient treatment facility for adolescents and teens. The programming here focuses on mental health and dual diagnosis disorders. The outpatient treatment options include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). During every phase of treatment at Compass, the clients receive high levels of support while attending group and individual therapy, and psychoeducational classes. They can also expect to participate in recreation therapy, and maintain their education from the campus based Compass Academy.
Treatment and Staff
Both the PHP and IOP tracks offer individualized programs that typically run between three to five days per week, depending on the client’s specific needs. Clients have structured days that consist of intention services, group therapy and recreational and therapeutic activities. The outpatient treatment is available to clients between the ages of 12 and 17.
The PHP begins at 8:15 am and commences at 4:30 pm daily. This intensive level of care includes around four and half to five hours of therapy per day. Clients are typically in this program for about two weeks before stepping down to the IOP. The PHP really focuses on having clients recognize their symptoms and start developing coping mechanisms.
The IOP requires a minimum of three hours of treatment per day, and runs two to five days per week. Clients receive treatment between 12:30 and 4:30 pm while attending group therapy and receiving psychiatric support. Depending on the age and grade, the clients may also attend classes at the Compass Academy in addition to their regular treatment program.
Therapeutic approaches are CBT, DBT, EMDR, trauma-informed CBT, Humanistic, Person Centered, Narrative and Solution Focused Therapy. Dual diagnosis clients also receive 12-step integration.
Compass Intervention Center employs a staff of experienced medical and clinical experts. They include Board certified psychiatrists, psychologists, and medical doctors. There are also LPC-MHSPs, LCSWs and case managers.
Extras
Holistic therapies offered are expressive therapies, art therapy and pet assisted therapy.
Extensive family support is offered during both the residential and outpatient stages of treatment. This includes counseling and resource information.
In Summary
The outpatient programs are ideal for clients who are in need of a significant level of support while lessening the disruption in their daily and family lives. Both the PHP and IOP are intensive with full treatment days that address all the different issues that young people face while struggling with addiction and mental health concerns.
