A New Beginning Recovery Houses Review

A New Beginning Recovery Houses is a sober living network for men in the beginning stages of recovery from alcohol and substance use disorders. The organization began operating in 2014. It has five locations throughout New Haven, Connecticut. The National Sober Living Association endorses this organization, which offers not only housing but also a supportive and safe community for residents that need camaraderie. Perhaps most noteworthy, the 12-step recovery method is an integral aspect of the experience.

Accommodations and Amenities

There are a total of 60 beds across the five sober homes. The “Recovery Mansion” is the most recent addition to the A New Beginning community. It can house 21 residents and offers plenty of amenities. There are six bathrooms, a spacious floor plan and common areas for socializing. The decor is attractive, with wood flooring and high ceilings. Residents also enjoy an industrial kitchen with marble countertops and new appliances.

Residents share bedrooms and can expect around-the-clock supervision. “Richard’s House” is a large home with four shared bedrooms, and “Lola’s House” is a three-story home equipped for 11 men. All of the residences have WiFi, a house computer and a washer and dryer.

“Carson’s House” is a smaller, three bedroom home with a comfortable living room and one and a half bathrooms, as well as a front porch. The “Dick Ranaudo” home is the newest addition. At nearly 3,000 square feet, Dick Ranaudo is a three-story house with six bedrooms and 13 beds.

Rules and Restrictions

A New Beginning believes in the importance of community and togetherness when it comes to the success of a sustainable recovery. As a result, residents improve their own lives through a commitment to their peers and the neighborhood. The men volunteer every week at a local soup kitchen and regularly help build houses with Habitat for Humanity. The community also hosts an array of sober fun events including a softball league. Many of the residents participate in spiritual retreats in Cape Cod.

Residents have to attend weekly meetings to discuss the week and house business. There is a weekly in-house AA meeting too. A New Beginning also encourages residents to become involved in the local 12-step network. Homes are near public transportation, and there are 12-step meetings nearby. Clients often attend these meetings as a group.

Finally, A New Beginning offers training sessions for naloxone administration, to reduce the risk of relapse.

In Summary

A New Beginning Recovery Houses is an organization that provides upscale substance-free accommodations for men who are new to sobriety. Above all, this sober living believes in resident empowerment through community involvement, personal development and 12-step meetings. For anyone in the New Haven area seeking a solid support system and nice accommodations, A New Beginning Recovery Houses is a fantastic resource.
