Broadreach House Review
Choices is a network of addiction and dual diagnosis treatment facilities throughout the UK. Broadreach House is a Choices partner facility that offers detox and inpatient care for men with moderate to severe mental health or physical disabilities that need extra support. The not-for-profit Broadreach House is not a 12-step based program, however it does offer that option to those who wish to receive that level of support. Treatment is holistic and structured with individualized care, and unique treatment programs, like donkey assisted learning therapy.
Accommodations and Food
Broadreach is located in the quaint, coastal region of Plymouth, and is close to national parks, beaches and tourist destinations. The men live in a home-like facility that accommodates up to 31 people. Clients have the option for private or shared bedrooms. The entire facility is wheelchair accessible.
Residents have access to a full gym, a game room with ping-pong table and billiards, and a TV lounge. Clients in the residential stage enjoy their three meals in the shared dining room. A team of chefs prepares all their food, while detox clients have a shopping facility twice a week.
While in treatment clients cannot have their cell phones, but they can use the pay phones in the facility.

During the residential phase clients have early morning wake up, meds, and a check in meeting. The mornings and afternoons include group therapy or therapeutic activities, such as an art therapy group or trauma group.
In addition to treating clients for addiction and co-occurring disorders, Broadreach also provides care for those with gambling and sex addictions, eating disorders, and addiction to technology.
Person centered approaches focus on clients learning new life and coping skills. They also incorporates CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI) into the program. Clients coordinate with staff to attend AA, NA or SMART Recovery meetings.
