Priory Hospital Church Village Review
Priory Hospital’s Church Village is located in southeast Wales, UK. Treatment is for women with learning disabilities and co-occurring disorders, including substance abuse. This facility offers specialist rehabilitation, which entails clients having a say in their treatment while receiving support as they prepare for independent living. Church Village, like all the Priory Group residential programs, offers bespoke treatment plans. It actively encourages clients to interact within the community while building up their life skills. During treatment clients can expect a number of evidence-based approaches within group and individual therapy. Finally, they participate in plenty of recreational and therapeutic activities.
Accommodations and Food
Church Village’s campus contains 10 bedrooms for clients in the program and a bungalow with two bedrooms for those who are stepping down. Clients have private bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. The grounds have private gardens and seating areas. There is a quiet lounge and lounge with a TV that clients share. Additional communal spaces include an art room, group therapy room, and occupational therapy kitchen.
The bungalow also provides private bedrooms. This space has independent features with a kitchen, dining room and common room.
Church Village is close to public transportation that offers access across the UK. Clients reside within walking distance from local shops, recreational activities and educational institutions.
Clients eat three meals together daily in the common dining room. Kitchen staff prepares all meals. A staff dietitian designs the menus with a focus on healthy eating practices.
Treatment and Staff
Every incoming client undergoes an intake assessment. This includes meeting with a psychiatrist and having a full medical workup. At this time, Priory Hospital Church Village also pairs each client with primary therapist and nurse.
This program uses a harm reduction model. There are daily goal planning and assessment sessions with a therapist, and a monthly meeting called Your Voice, which focuses on discharge and aftercare plans.
The program uses a variety of treatment interventions. This includes Positive Behavioral Support (PBS), mindfulness, CBT and DBT. The individualIzed treatment programs consist relapse prevention, therapeutic outings and activities and leisure time. There is no set amount of time that clients are expected to remain in treatment, however on average it is six months.
Occupational training and education opportunities are offered at the onset of treatment. Consequently, during their daily tasks, clients participate in keeping the facility clean, and helping out around the campus with various tasks.
The multidisciplinary staff includes psychiatrists, social workers, occupational therapists, clinical nurses, music and art therapists, and client advocates.
Extras
Holistic therapies include art and music therapy.
In Summary
The staff and clients work together to create the perfect treatment plans at Priory Church Village. This is a very supportive program that is encouraging, caring and positive. It’s especially helpful for those struggling with learning disabilities and mental health issues, which may or may not include substance abuse.
