The Basics
The Addiction Center of Broome County, Inc. in Binghamton, New York provides outpatient, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) along with dual-diagnosis treatment. ACBC is a non-profit facility offering adult men and women individualized, evidence-based treatment through group and individual therapy in a supportive environment.
Treatment and Staff
Those seeking treatment for substance abuse through ACBC must first undergo an evaluation to determine which program best suits their needs. Treatment paths are individualized and goal-oriented and clients are placed in a traditional outpatient program, an IOP (referred to as IOS) or PHP accordingly.
Individual counseling sessions may be scheduled as needed and the Basic Addictions Group is ideal for individuals who are new to treatment and who don’t need an intensive recovery program. Clients attend Psychoeducational group therapy twice a week for two hours.
The IOS is a six week program requiring no less than nine hours of treatment per week in three hour sessions. Clients participate in group and individual therapy, family counseling and relapse prevention. Group sessions discuss coping skills and drug refusal skills training. Psychiatric support is available for co-occurring disorders with medication management as needed.
ACBC’s PHP is the most intensive track requiring five hours of treatment five days a week. Generally speaking, clients with dual-diagnosis issues are treated through the PHP treatment track. Clients receive healthcare, life skills training, illness education, care for trauma and management skills for continued wellness. PHP clients also receive breakfast daily.
All treatment at ACBC is evidence-based and may include CBT, DBT, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), art and music therapy and EMDR for those who have experienced trauma. The facility also offers gender-specific trauma focused groups, a parenting program and anger management. ACBC’s staff of addiction counselors are Master’s-level LADCs, LCSWs, psychiatrists, psychologists and nurses.
Extras
The facility has a wellness group clients can attend that offers yoga and other forms of physical exercise as therapeutic tools. Spanish speaking groups are available as well. A family program in a private therapy setting can be integrated into any client’s program and ACBC has an aftercare program that meets twice a week that focuses on relapse prevention.
In Summary
The Addiction Center of Broome County’s individualized approach provides clients the opportunity for a life of sobriety while targeting the underlying issues that led to their addiction. The facility has a wide range of proven therapeutic methods and treatment paths for clients to choose from at affordable prices.
