Little Rock ArkansasThe Basics

For over 30 years, The BridgeWay has offered treatment to children, adolescents and adults who face behavioral issues in the Little Rock, Arkansas area. The BridgeWay provides inpatient mental healthcare for children four to 12 years old, adolescents 13 to 17 and adults over 18. In terms of substance abuse treatment, the facility offers a 12-step based Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults, as well as specialized dual diagnosis inpatient treatment and a week-long detox program.

Accommodations and Food

The sprawling campus has several buildings and resembles a college more than a hospital. Accommodations are semi-private, with two clients per room and a shared bath between two suites. Detox clients are housed in a hospital setting and monitored around the clock by medical professionals.

Food is prepared on-site by a culinary team and served in separate dining areas throughout the facility. The menu is created by a registered dietician and special restrictions can be accommodated.

Treatment and Staff

Detox at the Bridgeway lasts five to seven days. Detox is very regimented with group sessions running every hour. Clients usually find themselves bedridden for the first couple of days, but are encouraged to join the group as soon as they are able. After detox, participants can join the inpatient program or receive a referral to another facility.

The eight week Inpatient Dual-diagnosis Program serves adults, ages 18 and older, who are struggling with co-occurring disorders and substance abuse issues. Based on the 12 steps, the goals of the program are to educate the residents on the disease concept of addiction and develop an understanding of their decision-making skills and relapse prevention. Services of this program include CBT-based individual, group and family therapy, process and 12-step topic groups and recreational therapy.

The Bridgeway’s IOP lasts six to 12 weeks. Clients take part in individual, group and family therapy at a ratio determined by individualized case management. Sessions run Mondays through Thursdays, as well as Saturdays, from 9 am to 12 pm and Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 5:30 and 8:30 pm. No cell phones or any electronic devices are allowed in these sessions. During the IOP, clients may take educational or informational classes on parenting, health and nutrition, addiction and substance abuse. A minimum of two off-site AA/NA meetings are required each week. Dual-diagnosis support is available, as well. Aftercare is offered at no charge.

Clients in The BridgeWay substance abuse treatment programs receive the attention of medical doctors, nurses and certified counselors who are overseen by a psychiatrist who specializes in addiction.

Extras

The Bridgeway’s inpatient mental health services are available to children, adolescents and adults who face depression, mood disorders, PTSD, eating disorders and more. Services may include group, individual and family therapy and treatment is individualized.

Residential clients at the BridgeWay may only be visited by immediate family and a maximum of two visitors are allowed at a time.

In Summary

Those in need of treatment for substance abuse will benefit from the BridgeWay’s three decades of experience. This is an especially good choice for clients in need of medical detox who want to transition into a dual diagnosis inpatient program. Those who have a problem with the 12 steps may want to find another facility, otherwise this is a great option for IOP and dual diagnosis care.
