The Basics
At St. Joseph’s Behavioral Health Center, adolescents and adults receive treatment for behavioral health disorders. Located in Stockton, California, the facility provides an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for substance abuse and a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for mental health, both using DBT as a main therapeutic modality. St. Joseph’s caters to those with little or no means by making its treatment affordable and offering free behavioral evaluations before admission. A medically supervised detox program is also available.
Treatment and Staff
St. Joseph’s offers two different six-week long IOPs for recovery from substance abuse. Before admission, the client is offered a free behavioral evaluation for proper placement and to make necessary referrals. Clients must call to schedule an appointment for evaluation, though appointments are available every day of the week.
One of the IOPs is for adults over the age of 18 and the other is for adolescents ages 13 to 17. Clients are required to attend three group therapy sessions a week for three hours each. Meetings are offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the morning, afternoon or evening. Group therapy consists of 12-step oriented sessions and education about substance abuse using the addiction-as-a-disease model. Individual therapy sessions are scheduled depending on the needs of each client. There is also family therapy available upon request.
Extras
A mental health IOP is available to adults and children ages five and up. An experienced psychiatrist leads group and individual therapy sessions, using DBT to address concerns such as core mindfulness, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
A two-week PHP for mental health is also offered Monday through Friday and alternating Sundays. Sessions are held from 9 am to 3 pm for 10 days. The program includes comprehensive treatment and support for co-occurring disorders. Clients are offered medication management if needed.
Staff members include LADCs, LCSWs and psychiatrists.
In Summary
For adults and adolescents seeking structured intensive outpatient programs, St. Joseph’s Behavioral Health Center could be a good fit. Clients receive professional support in both individual and group therapy sessions. While the programs require active commitment, they also offer flexibility.
