The Basics
Community Rehab is a modern, boutique residential treatment center geared towards young adults in a quiet residential neighborhood in Orange, California. This Southern California facility emphasizes the importance of community and mutual respect between staff and residents.
CR offers detox services, intervention and sober living arrangements for young adults looking to recover from addiction and substance abuse where they are permitted to celebrate their individuality by showing their tattoos, listening to their favorite music and dressing freely. CR teaches clients how to live a sober life that is “cool, active and fulfilling.”
Accommodations and Food
CR accommodates clients in two connected cobalt-blue bungalows on one property where treatment and detox occurs, allowing staff and clients to be in constant symbiosis through proximity. The attractive front house with a covered porch and brick steps and walkway is the main hive where therapy sessions and meetings are conducted and communal meals are shared.
The houses accommodate nine men and women in five gender-specific double-occupancy bedrooms—three in the front house, and two in the back. Bathrooms are also shared and divided by gender. Twin beds are available with linens provided, and there is an on-site laundry room—detergent is also provided.
All meals are prepared by a cooking staff and can be enjoyed in privacy in the client’s bedroom or in the common dining room. Snacks are provided by CR and available for clients at their leisure. Most meals are traditional comfort food but special diet restrictions and allergies are accommodated. Caffeine and sugar are allowed and clients may enjoy energy drinks and smoke cigarettes in designated smoking areas.
Cell phones and computers are allowed, as long as residents respect the staff and maintain their focus on their sobriety. Clients are also allowed to bring money. Some residents are permitted to bring their animals, as long as they are approved by management and are up to date on all vaccinations. All CR requires of their residents is that they bring clothing appropriate for the weather and treat the staff, the house and other residents with respect at all times.
Treatment and Staff
Prior to admission, clients are psychologically assessed by an intake professional who reviews the individual’s history and current physical state to create an individualized treatment plan. If a client requires detox, they will be admitted to the on-site program for, on average, a three-to-five day supervised process with a knowledgeable team of doctors and psychiatrists. Medication-assisted treatment with Suboxone is available.
Clients and their case managers decide on whether a 30, 60 or 90 day commitment to inpatient treatment is appropriate and discuss the option for CR (or other) sober living arrangements after discharge from the residential track.
CR uses three treatment methods to arrest addiction; intensive daily individual therapy—meeting one-to-three times depending on need, daily group sessions and relapse prevention techniques. All therapy is conducted by staff MFTs who are experienced with treating addiction or the staff psychologist. Therapists work with clients to build confidence and heal from their past experiences. All groups encourage clients to build social skills and interpersonal relationships while addressing recovery related topics using psychoeducation. All therapists utilize an eclectic mix of therapies including CBT and 12-step modalities.
CR celebrates diversity, self-expression and encourages individuality. Clients are not cut off from their outside lives; rather, cell phones and laptops are permitted, allowing them to stay connected during treatment.
Extras
CR encourages clients to live active and engaged lives, and to this end, outside activities including beach outings, movies, sports games and concerts are arranged with staff escorts.
In addition to a comprehensive treatment program, CR assists families with intervention services conducted by professional interventionists.
In Summary
CR residents are encouraged to be fully engaged in their recovery process with the therapists and case managers from start to finish. Clients benefit from an integrated program where they can safely detox, then enroll in residential treatment followed by sober living all on the same home-like campus.
The intimate accommodations geared towards young adults in recovery encourages fellowship and community, honoring differences and celebrating individuality. None of this distracts from a serious program that incorporates evidence-based therapies and the 12 steps, making CR ideal for young men and women who are committed to sobriety and want a relaxed and compassionate atmosphere in which to recover.
