The Basics
New Beginnings Recovery House is owned by Peace of Mind Recovery Solutions, an organization that provides sober living for women in recovery in and around Kerrville, Texas. NBRH has two homes situated on 12 acres of Texas hill country land near the Guadalupe River. NBRH has comfortable and affordable accommodations for women seeking a safe and structured home to establish their sober lifestyles.
Accommodations and Amenities
NBRH clients will be placed in one of two houses; one with five beds, and the other six, with space for a total of 11 women. Residents share rooms with one other client, but each has their own twin-size bed and dresser. The houses come with fully equipped kitchens, large dining and living rooms and large shared bathrooms, all accented with comfortable, contemporary furniture.
Clients have access to a house computer with free Wi-Fi and a large HDTV with Blu-Ray and Netflix. There is also a gazebo on the property for meditation and social gatherings. The houses are all just minutes away from a hiking trail that runs along the scenic Guadalupe River. Finally, NBRH also offers discount memberships to local gyms and community centers to all clients.
Rules and Regulations
NBRH is not as strict as some sober livings, but there are some basic guidelines for living that clients must follow in order to stay. Most important is abstinence from drugs and alcohol. Daily 12-step attendance is also mandatory, as are nightly curfews; clients are also required to and work their programs with the help of a sponsor. There are weekly house meetings and meditation Monday through Friday. Basic chores are assigned to clients as a daily means of structure.
Clients provide their own food and containers to label their possessions. A portion of their move-in deposit is used for necessary household items. Certain medications are permitted on a case-by-case basis, provided they are prescribed by a medical doctor and approved by the house manager.
Extras
Beyond discounted membership to local gyms and community centers, NBRH does not offer much in the way of amenities. Still, the supportive staff and house manager offer personalized guidance to each client regardless of religious affiliation or belief system.
In Summary
In all, New Beginnings Recovery House provides comfortable, safe accommodations for women transitioning from early sobriety into daily life. On ample acreage with beautiful countryside to explore, women can enjoy the comforts of a modest and affordable home. Though the atmosphere is relatively easy-going, there are rules and guidelines in place to support sobriety, as well as daily meditation and 12-step meetings for spiritual reflection.
