The Basics
The Seafield Center, which opened in May of 1985, offers chemical dependency for individuals suffering from addiction and alcoholism. With multiple locations on Long Island and throughout New York state, Seafield offers outpatient and residential treatment as well as detox. Outpatient facilities are found in Amityville, Medford, Mineola, Patchogue, Riverhead and Manhasset. Seafield Center is licensed by the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
Treatment and Staff
All prospective clients are assessed by the intake staff who determine whether the client needs to be detoxed prior to beginning primary treatment and if the outpatient program is the right level of intensity. If at any time it is apparent that the client needs more intensive care, they are enrolled in the residential track. Two levels of outpatient treatment are available: a clinical outpatient track and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Both programs follow similar client goals but with varying levels of commitment.
The IOP track meets for two to three hours per day for a maximum of five days a week. This is the first level in a step down style of program. Clients attend group therapy each day and may also attend individual therapy once per week or on a bi-weekly basis. Groups last from 60 to 90 minutes. Clients also attend psychoeducational groups and focus on developing self-awareness skills. Development of confidence and concrete relapse prevention skills aim to enable the client to step down to the less intensive clinical outpatient track.
Clinical outpatient treatment is scheduled on an individualized basis. Clients may begin to attend sessions three times per week and slowly work their way down to once per week. Specialized groups are available for adolescents (between the ages of 13 and 18), young adults (between 18 and 25), a professionals group, anger management, a dual diagnosis support group, a DUI group, a domestic violence offenders group and groups for families.
Services are provided by LCSWs and CASACs. Staff members also include a psychiatrist, spiritual counselors, a dietitian, an acupuncturist, a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), physicians, Registered Nurses, LPNs and nurse practitioners.
Extras
Seafield Center offers many extras for their clients both in the residential and outpatient programs, including holistic treatment options like yoga and spirituality counseling.
Additionally, clients who have completed treatment may opt to move into a recommended sober living facility.
In Summary
Seafield Center offers treatment that carefully guides clients through the initial steps of their recovery. Through detox, outpatient and residential treatment options, clients are shown a way out of active addiction. Multiple locations are available and assistance with payment is accessible for all clients. With evidence-based treatment, credentialed staff and a continuum of care, Seafield Center is a solid choice for those struggling at any levels of addiction.
