The Basics

With offices in Wayne, Lincoln Park and Paramus, New Jersey, Sakowitz Counseling is an outpatient practice founded in 1976 by Dr. Michael Sakowitz. It offers a number of flexible treatment programs for addiction and some co-occurring disorders including depression and anxiety.

Treatment and Staff

All clients undergo an initial intake and assessment process so that an individualized treatment plan can be developed. While treatment length varies for each person, programs work within the structure of individual and group therapy that implement evidence-based practices, such as CBT and DBT, and are open to children and adolescents as well as adults. Though not a part of treatment, counselors encourage all clients with substance abuse issues to attend 12-step meetings.

The staff is comprised of CADCs, LCSWs, psychologists and LPCs.

Extras

Additional services include specialized therapy for LGBT issues, stress management, sexual dysfunction, relationship counseling, corporate wellness and sports psychology.
