The Basics
Cochran Recovery Services in Hastings, Minnesota has a range of treatment services for clients with co-occurring disorders. Founded by a group of recovering alcoholics, CRS offers treatment for substance abuse and mental health issues through their residential programs, trauma-informed counseling and sober living facilities, along with an on-site detox. Qualified staff members such as medical doctors, social workers and registered nurses lead all programs. CRS’s treatment tracks are available to both men and women age 18 and up.
Accommodations and Food
CRS can host 44 residents in total, with separate dorms for men and women. Both dormitories provide twin beds for 12 clients split between two spacious rooms and both have common areas with cable TV. Residents must bring their own toiletries but are provided with linens and towels.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all provided for residents, with an emphasis on balanced healthy meals. Lunch and dinner are hot meals, while breakfast is served cold.
Treatment and Staff
Each client gets a comprehensive psychiatric assessment upon entry to determine a proper treatment plan. Each case takes into account personalized health needs, family involvement and medication management. The duration of treatment is also decided on a case-by-case basis. While CRS’s residential program is only available to men and women 18 and older, their detox services can accommodate anyone 12 and up.
CRS favors an approach that addresses client’s mental, physical and emotional needs. Residents are required to participate in a 12-step program and group, individual and family therapy are also available. All counseling sessions are offered on a weekly basis, though it’s also possible to participate in these services on a daily basis when necessary.
CRS has adopted trauma-informed treatment to better serve those with co-occurring disorders. This approach aims to prevent further re-traumatization through sensitive counseling. There is also a holistic component to treatment—clients are offered wellness programs consisting of on-site yoga classes, various fitness activities and nutrition counseling. The nutrition program is available on a monthly basis and yoga is offered once a week.
Staff members at CRS include CADCs who use evidence-based therapy such as CBT and DBT. There are also LPNs, social workers and psychiatrists on staff.
In Summary
Cochran Recovery Services is an ideal program for men and women interested in a holistic approach to recovery with an active 12-step component. It’s also a good choice for younger clients in need of residential detox services, which can be difficult to find. In all, CRS provides a supportive and caring environment for recovery at a relatively affordable price.
