The Basics
Pathway to Recovery, originally founded in 1977 as Serento Gardens but renamed in 2013, is a non-profit behavioral health facility that provides outpatient treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders. Its Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is designed for clients in need of more intensive treatment while the standard outpatient track is a more flexible option for clients needing to maintain outside commitments.
Treatment and Staff
After an initial assessment, clients work with staff members to develop an individualized treatment plan. Length of programming varies per person but the PHP meets in a group setting, three times a week, for three and a half hours at a time and addresses addiction education, gender-specific issues, life skills and relapse prevention. Treatment uses evidence-based practices, such as DBT. Individual therapy meets twice a week for one hour at a time.
Medication-assisted treatment is also available using Naltrexone, methadone, buprenorphine for opiate withdrawal and Campral for alcohol. Clients are required to participate in a 12-step program in addition to their structured treatment.
Staff includes LPCs, CADCs, LCSWs, CCDPs and additional Master’s-level counselors.
Extras
Additional services include employee assistance programs, conflict mediation and DUI classes for court-ordered clientele and a tobacco cessation program free of charge to those already in treatment. Education and drug prevention courses, including school-based programs and other community outreach services, are also available, as are stand-alone psychological counseling and case management when necessary.
In Summary
Overall, Pathway to Recovery is a community-focused outpatient facility with flexible programs that offer a mix of evidence-based treatment and outside 12-step support. With medication-assisted care and a variety of ancillary services available as necessary, clients of Pathway to Recovery who are committed to sobriety will find themselves in good hands.
