The Basics
Located in Nashville, Tennessee, Foundations Nashville is a sister outpatient program to the The Oaks at La Paloma residential facility. Both are owned and operated by Foundations Recovery Network, an expansive behavioral health organization which runs a number of facilities throughout the country.
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment can begin, clients at Foundations Nashville go through an initial psychiatric assessment to help design an individualized program which meets their unique recovery needs. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for co-occurring disorders is the facility’s main track, lasting for six to eight weeks and meeting for three hours a day, Monday through Friday. Both morning and evening sessions are available: one from 9 am to noon and the other from 6 to 9 pm. Evening sessions are only offered Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays while morning sessions are available throughout the week.
Though each client’s program may vary, treatment includea both group and individual therapy incorporating evidence-based treatment including Motivational Interviewing (MI), CBT, DBT and psychoeducation. Medication management is also available as overseen by staff physicians. Although 12-step participation is not incorporated as part of the curriculum, clients can still attend off-site meetings as desired. The staff at Foundations Nashville consists of psychiatrists, MDs and Master’s-level therapists.
Extras
Aside from the above, clients can also participate in a family program which consists of group sessions from 6 to 7 pm on Tuesday evenings. Each session covers a range of topics including codependency, recognizing triggers, healthy communication and more.
Other holistic therapies can also be incorporated such as art therapy, yoga and meditation—depending on each client’s needs or preferences. Once participants have completed primary care, aftercare is also available in the form of weekly groups from 6 to 7:30 pm on Wednesdays. Finally, Foundations Nashville also has a 24-hour hotline for alumni to call at any time for additional support and check-ins.
In Summary
In all, Foundations Nashville provides much of the same integrated care that Foundations Recovery Network’s other facilities are known for. All programs are highly customizable with both clinical and holistic practices available. Finally, those who complete an initial program can also take advantage of Foundations’ alumni and aftercare as they wish. While it may be on the more expensive side compared to some outpatient programs, treatment provided at Foundations Nashville is nothing if not comprehensive.
