Angel's RecoveryThe Basics

Founded in 2010, Angel’s Recovery in Del Ray Beach, Florida offers a wide variety of substance abuse treatment services including detox, an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). Their executive treatment program provides identity protection protocol for top-notch executives and celebrities, while their Generation C program caters to college and high school students. They also offer a LGBTQIA program. All programs provide dual diagnosis support as Angel’s Recovery specializes in providing treatment to clients who experience co-occurring disorders.

Accommodations and Food

Angel’s Recovery is a self-contained campus with one-story white houses with contrasting red Spanish tile roofs and wraparound covered Mediterranean-style patios. In honor of the facility’s name, cherub and angel statues decorate the grounds. There is a large swimming pool in the center of the patio area. The facility has profuse natural light, tiled floors, light-colored walls and eclectic furnishings.

Angel’s Recovery accommodates between 8 and 12 residents in detox who are separated in gender-specific residences. After detox, clients can move into a large co-ed house with a 20-bed capacity.  Residents are housed in gender-specific wings, sharing double-occupancy or triple-occupancy rooms with twin beds. There is a television in every room, and two are in the common area. Cell phones, tablets and laptop computers are allowed.

The dining room has a long rectangular wooden table, with a hanging chandelier. Angel statues stand guard in front of large gothic shaped windows. A private chef prepares three organic meals a day and caters to all requests. Vegetarians, vegans and other diets are accommodated.

Treatment and Staff

Clients at Angel’s Recovery receive individualized treatment plans and the type of treatment and length of stay depends on the person. Those who check in for detox can expect a process that typically lasts between five and ten days. Medication-assisted treatment with Suboxone is provided to ease withdrawal from opiates or alcohol. After detox, clients can easily transition into the inpatient program.

At Angel’s Recovery, evidence-based approaches, specifically CBT and DBT, in conjunction with the 12-steps. Treatment includes group and individual therapy, as well as educational lectures on substance abuse. Group topics include trauma, co-occurring disorders, anger management, the 12-steps, psychodynamic processing and meditation. Groups are kept small, with no more than five clients at a time, thus promoting intimacy and trust. Trauma-informed techniques such as EMDR are used to help clients suffering from PTSD. Each evening, residents are driven to local 12-step meetings in brand new vans.

After a client completes inpatient treatment, they can step down into PHP or IOP. PHP is between 9 am to 3 pm Mondays through Fridays, with ample time allotted for lunch and snacks. IOP meets three nights a week for three hours.

There are ten on the Angel’s Recovery staff, including LCSWs and CADCs.

Extras

Clients can participate in equineart or music therapy, massage, yoga, or in golf therapy, which provides a sense of achievement and clarity to recovering alcoholics and addicts. Other activities include swimming, self-defense classes and exercise groups.

Staff drives to the area airports to pick up out-of-state clients.
