The Basics
Ron Armstrong is an interventionist in the Los Angeles area with Ferguson Behavioral Health Consultants, an international organization of addiction specialists with offices throughout the US and in London. Armstrong also maintains his own practice, Recovery Support Solutions, through which he conducts interventions and develops software for clinicians to monitor clients’ recovery progress.
Ferguson Behavioral Health Consultants is known for their expertise in treating clients with dual diagnosis. Clients struggling with alcoholism, substance abuse, sexual and food disorders as well as gambling are provided individualized case management services and are connected with an appropriate therapeutic program.
The Background
Armstrong began working in the recovery field in 1988. In 1996 well-known interventionist and psychotherapist Dr. James Fearing asked Armstrong to join his practice, National Counseling Intervention Services in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he rose to Director of Intervention Services. Soon after starting Recovery Support Solutions in 2000, The Betty Ford Center named Armstrong one of the country’s top five interventionists.
The Approach
Armstrong has helped over 2,000 families navigate the treatment and recovery process for their loved ones. He and his team are especially adept at teaching clients and families the importance of accountability for long-term recovery. The software he developed, Daily Recovery Log, helps clients and their treatment providers see patterns of behavior that might lead to relapse.
All clinicians at FBHC have training in Family Systems therapy and co-occurring disorders.
FBHC also offers extensive case management services to all clients including help identifying the best detox and treatment program to attend. FBHC has worked with over 400 treatment centers throughout the world and does not accept referral fees for placing clients in facilities.
Treatment centers who have worked with Armstrong complement his professionalism and innovation. He has worked with several companies providing educational services on how to handle substance abuse in the workplace, including a major airline who credits him with developing an effective system to avoid relapse in pilots.
Post-Intervention and Summary
As a member of Ferguson Behavioral Health Consultants, Armstrong is backed by a team of credentialed professionals at his disposal to help his clients access the best recovery options possible. Case management services can last between 30 days and one year, with aftercare planning to help build a foundation for lasting sobriety. Referrals for transitional and sober living facilities are also available for those wishing to live in a sober environment while returning to independent living.
Armstrong has a track record of innovation and creativity in approaching recovery and an ability to teach accountability to families and clients. His efforts yield success in recovery long after each client’s initial foray into treatment.
