The Basics
NOVA Recovery Center has two outpatient substance abuse treatment facilities located in Texas—Houston and Austin. These facilities provide Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) with group and individual therapy, offering an array of treatment methods like CBT, experiential therapy and the 12 steps. Programs are open to adult men and women who are 18 and older.
Treatment and Staff
The staff at NOVA strives to make the process of going into treatment as simple as possible by offering initial intake assessments over the phone. This allows for the therapist to properly place the client in the best treatment, and discuss group scheduling options.
Treatment is provided on a step down basis with most of the incoming clientele coming out of a residential program, and after completing the IOP will enter into a standard outpatient schedule. The IOP meets three times a week for three hours per day and runs for about eight weeks. Outpatient is usually once a week for up to six months. During the IOP clients meet with their therapist for individual therapy once a week and attend group sessions the remaining hours, while outpatient is typically in a group setting.
The focus in the outpatient programs is relapse prevention, coping skills and acclimating into every day life. Clients are encouraged to attend outside AA or NA meetings regularly and participate in psychoeducational lectures. During treatment clients work with their counselor to develop an aftercare plan, which for some may involve finding a sober living facility, or simply continuing with outpatient check-in’s. For clients with co-occurring disorders there are medication management services available and opportunities to meeting with the on site psychiatrist for maintenance.
NOVA employs highly qualified and experienced medical and clinical staff to oversee the programs, including MDs, LPCs and LCSWs.
Extras
NOVA offers personal monitoring services where clients are matched up with a sober coach who is able to be of assistance in the early stages of sobriety. This program usually runs for about 12 week with once a week meet ups. This serves as a good option for those who aren’t able to go into sober living. There are also family therapy options available.
In Summary
The outpatient programs offered at NOVA Recovery Center’s two convenient locations emphasize the need for accountability and a sense of community amongst the clientele. The follow up options, like a sober living or sober coach services are nice touch, especially for those who have to return to work right away. This is a great choice for outpatient treatment in Texas.
