The Basics

Haven House is a drug and alcohol treatment organization based in of Los Angeles, California with a number of facilities throughout the city. Aside from its sober living and outpatient programs, Haven House also offers an intimate residential treatment option in West Los Angeles for men and women.

Accommodations and Food

The Haven House residential facility can accommodate six clients with shared and private bedrooms. Though the program is co-ed, residents always have a same-sex roommate. Bedrooms come with full beds, pillowy comforters and large dressers. The home offers a modern kitchen complete with appliances and an attached dining room, as well as several common areas with large couches and plush decor. Clients receive three square meals a day. As an added bonus, the house also has a large swimming pool and lawn chairs to relax during downtime.

Treatment and Staff

Treatment relies on 12-step principles and evidence-based methods. These CBT, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), psychodynamic therapy, experiential therapy, Somatic Experiencing and EMDR. Treatment also includes dual diagnosis support and trauma-informed care when necessary. Residents are required to attend daily off-site AA/NA meetings.

Daily schedules are comprised of individual and group therapy, art therapy and case management sessions. Family systems therapy is also available to help understand addiction as a family disease; and female clients can supplement their program with the Seeking Safety model.

Staff includes LCSWs, CADCs, MFTs and Master’s level clinicians.

Extras

Haven House also offers some holistic treatment options like mindfulness training, acupuncture and massage. Art therapy, yoga, life coaching sessions, meditation and nutritional counseling are also available.

Other Haven House programs include sober living, extended care and outpatient treatment that clients can use as a step down program for aftercare.
