The Basics

Portner Counseling Group LLC was founded by Casey Portner, a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) seeking to provide a safe environment for adults and adolescents to receive professional drug and alcohol counseling services. Located in Pompano Beach, Florida just north of Fort Lauderdale, Portner Counseling offers therapeutic and consultation services with a holistic approach. All treatment is outpatient utilizing evidence-based methods.

Treatment and Staff

Clients initially go in for an evaluation/assessment to determine whether Portner Counseling’s services are a good fit for their needs and to develop an appropriate treatment plan. Treatment combines individual and group therapy, allowing counselors to focus on individualized needs and goals in tandem with cultivating a support group with fellow clients. Groups also contribute to building positive relationships, a recovery network and sharing experience as clients work towards similar recovery goals.

Family counseling is available and particularly beneficial for adolescent and young adult clients allowing for the opportunity to learn about and support the recovery process. All treatment focuses on developing self confidence, identifying problem habits and behaviors and learning how to implement new tools to support a sober and healthy lifestyle.

CBT is the main treatment modality utilized in sessions. The 12-steps are not integrated into the program, but referrals to local chapters are available if desired.

The staff at Portner Counseling Group consists of CAPs and an LCSW.

In addition to counseling services, Portner Counseling Group also offers comprehensive consultation services for those who are still unsure whether they need help, what type of help they require or if a referral to another program is required. Staff are also well versed in aiding clients with legal issues and liaising with attorneys and drug courts.
