Queen of PeaceThe Basics

Queen of Peace Center (QPC) is a behavioral health care facility in St. Louis, Missouri offering residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment and transitional living services for women and their children. A Christian-based non-profit organization, QPC offers the CSTAR (Comprehensive Substance Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation) program, the Nurturing Networks Family and Children’s Program and Pregnant and Postpartum Women’s Residential Program at three facilities and provides a variety of different treatment plans. QPC gives low-income women access to addiction treatment and necessary social and medical support services, such as daycare and transportation.

Accommodations and Food

With three different locations in St. Louis, the QPC residential programs provide housing at the Cathedral Tower home (CSTAR 26 beds), the Annex home (19 beds for women and families) and Our Lady of Perpetual Hope (24 beds for pregnant and postpartum women). Women and their children are typically accommodated in their own rooms and share bathrooms with one other family. There is a computer and TV in each of the homes as well as large front and backyards.

All three houses provide three healthy meals a day, and a clean and safe environment.

Treatment and Staff

Each of the facilities offers a specific program for their residents. The CSTAR program includes daily individual, group and family therapy sessions and dual-diagnosis treatment as well as trauma-informed care as needed. There is also peer and father support services and access to childcare services.

The Nurturing Networks Family and Children’s Program aims to treat multi-faceted problems women and their families may face in recovery. Services include individual therapy, group therapy, family and child therapy, parenting education classes, dual-diagnosis care.

The Pregnant and Postpartum program offers all the services that CSTAR offers—with a focus on maintaining health during pregnancy and drug-free births. It also offers continued support for recovering postpartum mothers after their babies are born.

Extras

QPC also offers transitional housing at St. Philippine House for women who have undergone a treatment program but still need some structure and support.

In addition to their treatment and housing services, QPC also has a community outreach program which focuses on substance abuse prevention through education and open discussions throughout community centers and schools in the St. Louis area.

Art therapy is offered through their Nurturing Networks Family and Children’s program.

In Summary

QPC is a good choice for women looking for family-friendly treatment and care. Their homes cater to the specific needs of their residents through therapy and education. The accommodations offer a safe and nurturing environment and can specifically help to overcome the obstacles low income women with children face when struggling to get sober.
