Singing River Services: Outpatient

The Basics

Singing River Services has been providing residents of George and Jackson counties in South Central Mississippi with behavioral health and supportive services for over 40 years. Singing River endorses the belief that every individual should be given the opportunity to live independently, free from the burden of addiction and treated with respect and dignity.

Singing River offers a 30-day residential substance abuse treatment program at Steven’s Center in Pascagoula—an industrial city that is home to a thriving ship-building industry. In nearby Gautier, outpatient substance abuse treatment services and support for children and those with development disabilities are available as well.

Treatment and Staff

The IOP is a ten-week program that includes group therapy three times a week and individual therapy once a week or as-needed. A client’s counselor may also require him or her to attend local 12-step meetings each week.

Groups are led by Master’s-level therapists and addiction counselors and typically have between five and 15 participants. Topics include relapse prevention, coping skills and psycho-education groups on the disease of addiction. Clients with co-occurring disorders can receive treatment for mental health diagnoses in the mental health departments of Singing River.

Extras

Clients of Singing River have access to a peer support services specialist who helps locate additional supportive services and training opportunities in the area. Singing River also offers a 10-week education program for DUI offenders and provides many substance abuse prevention workshops and assemblies in local schools.

Singing River Services provides cost-accessible intensive outpatient treatment. In addition to a substance abuse treatment plan, clients have access to mental health and peer support services, making Singing River a promising option for those committed to improving all areas of their life in recovery.
