The Basics
CCD Counseling, P.A offers outpatient substance abuse and mental health support in three offices located in Denton, Lewisville and Farmers Branch, Texas. Treatment is an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) based on the 12-step principles. The program includes individual and family therapy sessions as well as aftercare services. Clients seeking treatment at CCD must be willing to participate in a 12-step program alongside treatment.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning substance abuse treatment, all clients are required to complete a Drug and Alcohol Assessment provided at CCD or another comprehensive assessment to prove their eligibility for the IOP. Following an assessment, participants are scheduled for an intake during which they work with a therapist to develop an individualized treatment plan. Clients are not required to include their family members in treatment plans, though they may be encouraged to do so if deemed necessary. Medication management services are not available.
IOP is available at the Denton facility only and includes 12 hours of weekly therapy for six weeks. There are currently morning and evening groups led by licensed professionals which use the 12 steps and psycho-educational practices to discuss substance abuse, the disease of addiction and how to maintain sobriety. These groups are highly interactive, with all participants focused on supporting one another during the process. Aside from group therapy, clients begin to develop a relapse prevention plan during treatment as well which often includes attending off-site AA/NA meetings.
The team at CCD includes LPCs, LCDCs and LCSWs who are trained in CBT and DBT.
Extras
Those who complete IOP can transition into the second and third phases of treatment, which are considered aftercare. These phases are open to those who have completed treatment outside of CCD as well. Aftercare is split into two phases that vary in intensity. During the second phase, individuals are required to attend two hour-long group therapy sessions twice a week for a total of five weeks. They then step down to a third phase which includes only one two hour-long group therapy session per week. The length of this final phase varies from client to client. All aftercare groups are offered at the Denton and Lewisville locations with accommodations for Spanish language speakers.
CCD Counseling PA also offers free family counseling for youth and their families through the Family Tree Program.
Those suffering from PTSD and anger management issues can also receive individual and group therapy at the Denton office on Wednesdays from 5 to 6:30 pm and in Lewisville on Saturdays from 10 to 11:30 am. There’s also a teen anger management group which takes place in Denton on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm. All those participating must attend eight classes to complete the anger management program. Finally, CCD also has play therapists on staff who can treat children in an individual setting for behavioral issues when necessary.
In Summary
At CCD Counseling PA, individuals are offered structured IOP and aftercare programs that provide comprehensive recovery support. Clients also benefit from the last two phases of treatment which focus on properly transitioning from intensive therapy to normal life in the community, while maintaining involvement in peer support groups. While CCD Counseling might not be ideal for those averse to a 12-step program, it remains a strong resource for those in the local community.
