The Basics

Freeport Pride, Inc.  is a community-based organization that was incorporated to provide youth and substance abuse prevention and treatment services. Located in Freeport, New York—a small town on the South Shore of Long Island—the substance abuse treatment program at FPI is outpatient and evidence based incorporating traditional therapy and the 12 steps.

Treatment and Staff

The outpatient program at FPI is highly structured helping clients progress through a series of four phases. Movement from one phase to the next is dependent on each individual’s ability to meet a certain level of criteria. The first phase is the introductory phase and consists of immersion into individual and group therapy, an educational series and an introduction to the 12-steps. After the first phase is completed, clients continue on with their treatment and therapy, eliminating the educative elements. Vocational services are also added as is family therapy as needed. The third and last phase of the treatment is aftercare which consists of an individualized plan that is developed based on the needs and status of each individual client.

The entire program typically lasts eight months but may go longer when incorporating aftercare treatment. Urinalysis is also administered at random throughout the course of the program. All therapies and treatment modalities are based on CBT methodology.

The staff at FPI consists of clinical psychologists, LCSWs. LADCs and LPCs.

Extras

In addition to the substance abuse treatment services, FPI also provides substance abuse prevention and youth services. The prevention services include programs, educational lectures, seminars and larger-scale events to bring information to the community, schools and clients. FPI’s youth services include counseling and development services to prevent delinquent behavior and provide education and support.
