Los Angeles CaliforniaThe Basics

Founded in 2008 in Los Angeles, California, Adams Eaves Sober Living Residence provides co-ed sober living in a safe and supportive environment, which gives newly clean and sober clients a sense of stability while they work on building new lives. Located on West Adams Boulevard, one of the oldest neighborhoods in LA, the house is close to USC and downtown Los Angeles.

Accommodations and Amenities

While Adams Eaves accommodates up to 14 clients, there are an average of eight residents on the premises. Clients are typically paired in gender-specific furnished rooms, which include twin beds, dressers and a closet. One room includes two bunk beds and accommodates four women. Amenities include Wi-Fi, Cable TV, and house phone for local calls, fresh linens, washer and dryer.

Clients are responsible for their own food, and meals are prepared in a fully equipped kitchen. Staff lives on the premises to provide oversight and support.

Rules and Regulations

Individuals on methadone maintenance, or those with a history of arson, sex offenses or animal abuse are prohibited entry to Adams Eaves. Unless they are on SSI or disability, clients must have full-time employment or prove another legitimate source of income, including funding from family, prior to admission. Upon arrival, unemployed individuals, who are able to work, must look for a job. Additionally, potential clients must have undergone detox and there is a six-month minimum time commitment. Residents must be prepared to attend a minimum of three weekly recovery support group meetings including AA/NA and SMART Recovery, although this is not a strictly enforced rule.

Other requirements include performance of household chores, which are assigned on a weekly basis, payment of household fees on the first of each month, maintenance of a respectable demeanor towards housemates and proper clean up after meal preparation. Residents who engage in vulgar behavior or any forms of sexual conduct are immediately evicted. Guests are not allowed in bedrooms. Visitations are limited to the first floor.

There is zero tolerance for residents suspected to be under the influence or those who fail drug and alcohol screenings. Additionally, no narcotics or alcohol is allowed on the premises. Prescription medications and mouthwash or cough syrup with alcohol are forbidden. The curfew for employed clients is 10 pm Sundays through Thursdays, and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Unemployed clients must adhere to a daily 6 pm curfew.
