The Basics
Empower Comprehensive Treatment Center of Rochester, Minnesota is an outpatient treatment facility offering different levels of treatment for substance abuse, mental illness and co-occurring disorders. Services are also available for DUI offenders and those in need of counseling for domestic violence. The treatment at Empower CTC focuses on education, behavioral modification and solution-based therapy though group and individual sessions.
Treatment and Staff
Before treatment begins, clients must attend an in-person drug and alcohol assessment available on Monday morning or Wednesday afternoon. Empower has an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and outpatient track that can be either gender-specific or co-ed. Day and evening schedules are available running from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, or from 6 to 9 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Treatment generally consists of 30 group therapy sessions and three individual therapy for those in IOP, whereas DUI counseling is only eight hours total.
Treatment focuses on recognizing damaging behaviors and making efforts to change them. This is accomplished through a range of techniques including CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), EMDR, DBT and skill enhancement. Specific groups like relapse prevention or the 12-step based Step Beyond group are offered to both men and women, and are designed to help clients discover their triggers and the origins of their addictions. Those with co-occurring disorders can receive therapy at the facility, though referrals must be made for those in need of medication management and psychiatric services.
The staff at Empower consists of Master’s-level LCSWs, RNs, LADCs, LPCCs, LCDCs and psychologists.
Extras
An aftercare program that consists of 10 individual or group therapy sessions is available free of charge to all who complete IOP. There are also anger management, DUI offender programs and parenting groups available.
The CRAFT Program is designed for pregnant women or mothers of young children who have a history of drug abuse. This program provides in-home or individual therapy sessions once a month, or group therapy twice a week at the facility.
