The Basics
Founded in 2005, Serenity New York is a high-end sober living facility that operates six gender-specific homes throughout Manhattan. Serenity provides structured transitional care for recovering addicts and alcoholics, as well as those with co-occurring disorders and eating disorders.
Accommodations and Amenities
Clients are housed in lush townhouses or penthouses in Soho, Tribeca, the Upper East Side and the Eastside. Each residence accommodates between eight and ten clients. The East Women’s penthouse has spa bathrooms and outdoor balconies. The women’s Upper East Side townhouse has an outdoor garden and fully stocked library. Clients are paired in luxuriously furnished rooms.
Each residence has a private chef who prepares a gourmet dinner every evening and provides nutritional support. The kitchens are stocked with organic food and fresh produce. All dietary needs are accommodated. A typical breakfast includes a croissant, freshly squeezed juice, protein shake or cereal. Clients can also prepare an omelet or any egg plate. Additionally, they prepare their own lunch, which typically includes an organic salad or sandwich. At dinnertime, clients eat together. This offers them an opportunity to work on building a peer support network. Each residence has onsite staff around the clock.
Rules and Regulations
Serenity accepts clients at various stages of recovery, but they must have undergone detox. Clients are assigned sober coaches within 24 and 72 hours of arrival and receive individualized recovery plans. Length of commitment is usually on a month-to-month basis, though Serenity recommends a 90-day minimum stay.
Besides housing, other services offered by Serenity include sober coaching, case management, life skills coaching, nutritional support, outpatient treatment referrals, vocational guidance, and assistance at finding an appropriate recovery support group. On a weekly basis, clients meet with their case manager to set up daily schedules, coordinate aftercare treatment, and establish contact with relatives. Residents are required to attend regular 12-step meetings. Those preferring an alternative to AA, are encouraged to seek other recovery support groups, including SMART Recovery.
Residents undergo random drug and alcohol testing. At Serenity, relapsed clients are dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Clients each receive personalized curfew times based on their lifestyle, commitments and the stability of their recovery.
Extras
Luxury transportation is provided to and from outpatient treatment, medical and mental health appointments. Clients are also escorted to weddings and other family events, which could potentially trigger a relapse.
The Secure Services Division is provided for celebrity clients including guidance in choosing safe meetings, outpatient centers, and discreet doctors. The division includes former military special operations unit members, bodyguards and executive protection agents.

Serenity is the crème de la crème of sober living. Former clients include heads of state and members of royal families. The attentive staff and plethora of extra services available make this an excellent choice for the type of clients who need personalized care with a special touch.
