Cedar Springs utilizes a multifaceted approach to care that integrates a number of medical and therapeutic methods including assessments, evidence-based therapies, psychoeducation, case management, recreation, crisis management and relapse prevention. Clients engage in individual and age specific group sessions rooted in CBT, DBT and EMDR to treat psychological trauma. Individuals also meet regularly with psychiatrists. Psychoeducation courses focus on topics like stress and anger management, self esteem, impulse control and communication skills. Clients also participate in equine therapy to promote physical and mental health. In addition, the facility provides an accredited academic curriculum called the Southgate School. The comprehensive program includes classes in math, languages, history, science and reading. The Southgate School also offers a student council, volunteer opportunities and fun extracurricular activities like talent and art shows. 

Cedar Springs employs a diverse team consisting of psychologists, therapists, a nursing team, teachers, child and adolescent psychiatrists. Medical services and medication management are available for individuals with mental illnesses.
