Bloom Recovery Home Review
Originally established in 2017, Bloom Recovery Home is a Homeward Pikes Peak program that caters to pregnant women or young women with small children. It is a sober living facility that incorporates the 12 steps, therapy and life skill building. Bloom Recovery Home is specifically for women who have struggled with addiction and are at risk of becoming homeless. In addition to the therapeutic aspect of treatment, clients also receive a good deal of case management and community services.
Accommodations and Amenities
The home-like facility provides semi private bedrooms. There is a “two heartbeats per room” rule, so this can mean two adult women in one room, or a client and their baby. The facility has all the amenities of home, including a living room with TV, dining room, and bedrooms with new bedding and linens.
Rules and Regulations
Eligible clients have to meet certain criteria to qualify for this program. This includes receiving a referral from either the department of justice or corrections, having a background of substance abuse, struggle with homelessness, and either be pregnant or have a child under 12 months.
During this 12 month program clients go through a five phase treatment track. This begins with an assessment, orientation and individualized treatment plan. The next step involves clients attending the outpatient program at Harbor House clinic. This program consists of group and individual therapy, psychoeducation, and case management. Group therapy includes relapse prevention, establishing boundaries and building healthy relationships, and managing triggers.
Phase three involves clients learning how to identify past behaviors that may have contributed to their substance use. This phase of treatment also works on parenting skills, family systems and starting to work towards employment. Following this phase clients continue to work on their life skills and aim toward self sufficiency. Clients begin to unpack past traumas and a reconnection plan with their families.
The final stage of the program clients begin employment that is monitored, learn budgeting and money management, and continue their independent living skills. Throughout their time at Bloom, the women attend AA/NA meetings, and remain abstinent from drugs and alcohol.
There is a staff member on the premises 24 hours a day. He or she helps with connecting to services around the community, such as medical care for mother and child, prenatal care, and continued mental health care.
Extras
There are aftercare services available through the Homeward Pikes Peak network.
In Summary
Bloom Recovery Home is a supportive environment for pregnant women and young mothers who have struggled with independent living and substance abuse. This program empowers clients through education and community support services. Above all, the residents learn valuable life skills that enable them to become better parents and self sufficient.
