Located in its namesake, Reno, Nevada, Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is a mental health treatment facility established in 2018. In addition to detox and inpatient programs, there are also comprehensive outpatient tracks. They include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) for adults struggling with acute mental illness, and an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults dealing with substance abuse and addiction. It’s worth mentioning, clients undergo treatment in a brand new facility that offers state of the art equipment and holistic programming options. 

Treatment and Staff

Incoming clients go through an assessment process at the facility. This is a medical and psychological evaluation that takes into account each individual’s mental health background, and history with trauma or substance abuse.

The PHP is a good option for those who need a structured program but are not able to commit to inpatient care. It’s Monday through Friday for two to four weeks. The days consist of up to six hours of programming that includes group therapy and psychoeducation. 

The substance abuse IOP is typically a four week or more program that incorporates group therapy, 12-step support, psychoeducation and trauma-informed care. This track focuses on clients identifying the cycle of addiction, how to handle triggers and emotions associated with cravings, relapse prevention, and coping skills. In addition, dual diagnosis clients receive medication management.

The outpatient programs utilize evidence-based approaches to address mental health concerns, like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and more. There is also an emphasis on uncovering unresolved trauma, managing stress, and reducing shame related to mental illness. Common therapeutic approaches includes CBT, Solutions Focused Therapy, expressive therapies, and recreational therapy. 

Staff of the IOP and PHP are LADCs, LCSWs, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric nurses, dietitians and recreational therapists. 

Extras

Family therapy is part of treatment. In fact, Reno Behavioral Healthcare Hospital strongly encourages loved ones to be an active participant in the program.

Clients work with their therapist to set goals throughout treatment and establish an aftercare plan. Aftercare includes follow up sessions and referrals to community agencies.

When an inpatient program is not an option, the outpatient tracks at Reno Behavioral Healthcare are a great fall back plan. These programs include similar elements to the inpatient programming in terms of intensity and therapeutic activities but still allow clients to be able to return home at night. This is a supportive environment with programming that Master’s-level clinicians with extensive experience oversee with care.
