Accommodations and Food
The main campus is located in Klamath Falls, a small city in southern Oregon. The campus offers a safe and supportive community with four upscale family-sized homes, as well as an academic facility and a cafe. Klamath Falls provides comfort, plenty of amenities and a number of opportunities for growth. The staff encourages residents to take advantage of the many vocational, employment, academic and recreational options.
Clients have access to a gym equipped with a basketball court, tennis courts and a personal trainer. There are also a number of classes like dance, music, zumba and boot camp as well as an array of field trips including mountain climbing, hiking and ultimate frisbee. Residents also have access to both an indoor and outdoor pool.
Dragonfly offers a delicious and nutritious menu with plenty of options for individuals with dietary preferences or restrictions. Individuals struggling with eating disorders keep a food diary and participate in nutrition education classes.
Treatment and Staff
Dragonfly understands that no two recovery paths are the same. As a result, clients undergo a comprehensive intake assessment that includes a medical and psychological evaluation as well as a complete account of substance use. From this, an individualized care plan is tailored to address the unique needs and goals of the client. Clients work with a mentor to develop a schedule that works for them. The team also determines which campus is the best fit for the client’s needs. While the length of the program varies from person to person, clients typically finish in between nine and twelve months.
Dragonfly offers a client-centered approach to treatment that integrates a number of therapeutic methods including evidence-based models, skills training, holistic practices, psychoeducation, experiential therapy and mentoring. Clients engage in individual and group therapy sessions rooted in CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and EMDR as well as weekly visits with a staff mentor. Psychoeducation courses focus on the effects of substance use, sexual and technology education and relapse prevention techniques. There are also 12-step support groups available.
The Dragonfly team includes therapists, psychiatrists, board certified nurse practitioners, social workers, academic coordinators and mentors. Medication management is available for co-occurring disorders.
Extras
Holistic approaches include mindfulness meditation, yoga, art and music therapy. Clients also learn a variety of home, career and life skills such as budgeting, social skills, nutrition and cooking. The facility also offers horseback riding and an array of recreational activities. Individuals are encouraged to pursue outside interests throughout their stay including college, employment or volunteering
The facility believes in the importance of family involvement to the success of a client’s recovery and healing. Consequently, Dragonfly offers family therapy sessions over the phone as well as workshops three times a year.
Dragonfly offers an adventure program that includes trips to the Cascade Mountains, Portland, San Francisco, the Rogue River and Zion National Park.
In Summary
Dragonfly Transitions is a treatment organization that provides personalized, individualized programming for young adults struggling with eating disorders, substance use disorders and process addictions. The Klamath Falls campus offers both the support necessary to focus on recovery as well as a range of empowerment opportunities.
