Vision House Sober Living Review

Vision House Sober Living provides sober living accommodations at two locations in downtown Manchester, New Hampshire. Part of the Granite Recovery Centers organization, it offers an abstinence-based environment for women stepping down from residential treatment. The facility not only provides transitional accommodations but also opportunities for healing and empowerment. The homes are rooted in the 12-step process and also incorporate an array of services.

Accommodations and Amenities

There are two female sober living home locations: Vision House East and Vision House West. Both sober living houses are centrally-located in Manchester, which is New Hampshire’s largest city, and home to a wealth of employment opportunities, coffee shops, and things to do.

The upscale accommodations include a spacious floor plan, a large, comfortable living room, and a kitchen with modern appliances. Residents share a nice bedroom with twin-sized beds, colorful linens and plenty of storage. With room for only 15 residents in two houses, it is a uniquely intimate sober experience that includes both a tight-knit peer community and the solitude needed for clients to focus on recovery.

Rules and Regulations

Vision House understands the importance of a life lived with purpose. As a result, the facility implements a structured daily routine that includes chores, as well as opportunities for personal development. Residents must attend mandatory weekly meetings that focus on peer support and in-house issues.

It’s worth mentioning, 12-step is a cornerstone of the aftercare program, with clients required to obtain a sponsor within the first few weeks. Residents attend weekly AA/NA meetings and go through regular accountability checks with the staff.

The staff requires clients to keep their area clean and perform a weekly deep cleaning as a group. They must also pass random drug tests and follow a basic code of conduct that includes curfews and respect for peers and staff. In addition, the facility provides opportunities for growth and empowerment. In fact, clients are required to get a job within the first month of their stay. There is a mindfulness meditation practice every morning. Also, women engage in Big Book meetings and a personal development curriculum.

There are house managers and recovery support staff in-house. Medication management is available for clients with co-occurring issues as well as Vivitrol for opioid use disorder.

In Summary

Vision House is a sober living facility that provides transitional accommodations and a comprehensive curriculum for women in the early stages of recovery from alcohol and substance use disorders. Through a 12-step immersion, accountability checks and a focus on life skills, the facility prepares clients for their next chapter. For women seeking a safe, stable environment and a path towards a fulfilling new life, this is a top notch resource.
