Old Vineyard Behavioral Health Outpatient Review
Old Vineyard Behavioral Health is based out of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Programming takes place on a 16 acre campus, and includes treatment tracks for adolescents, adults and seniors. Treatment uses evidence-based protocols on every level of care, from residential to outpatient services. The outpatient offerings include a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults. These tracks focus on dual diagnosis support, mood disorders, anger management and relapse prevention. The outpatient programs operate in conjunction with the specialty programs that were recently introduced to the facility.
Treatment and Staff
The PHP is a full day program that runs for approximately two weeks. Clients go to treatment Monday to Friday from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. This track is especially ideal for adults who are going through significant life changes, such as a divorce or death in the family, have recently been put on a new medication for their mental illness, or have been diagnosed with a mental illness.
During the two weeks in the PHP client participate in several group therapy sessions daily. These groups focus on developing new coping mechanisms, emotional regulation, interpersonal skills, dealing with stress and managing anger. Treatment approaches include DBT, CBT and the Matrix Model. In addition to the group model, there are addiction education sessions and regular recreational therapy.
Medication management is often a part of the PHP, and clients meet on a regular basis with a psychiatrist to monitor their progress.
After the two weeks clients step down to the IOP. This program runs three days per week for three hours per treatment day. The IOP is flexible in terms of treatment days. On their off days clients meet with their psychiatrist for medication monitoring.
The IOP works on implementing new coping skills that can be practiced in a structured environment before concluding the program. This track typically runs between six and eight weeks.
Both the IOP and PHP are overseen by psychiatrists. There are also LPC and psychiatric nursing staff on hand.
Extras
The PHP includes breakfast and lunch every day.
Family counseling is available and encouraged. As a result, clients and their families often meet to learn about the disease of addiction and how it affects an entire family unit.
In Summary
The IOP and PHP are programs that zero in on life after rehab and how to manage once clients return to their own lives. They have several valuable resources for both the client and their families. Old Vineyard works to give each person in the outpatient programs the right tools to interact in the world in recovery.
