New Day Recovery Detox and Inpatient Review
New Day Recovery of Shreveport and West Monroe, Louisiana offers myriad addiction and dual diagnosis treatment services. Inpatient treatment includes medical detox and a residential program. Programming utilizes evidence-based protocols and 12-step support. Clients experience individualized plans that incorporate Christian counseling, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and care management. It’s worth noting, New Day Recovery strives to provide a well rounded program that transforms lives, and gives comfort and purpose.
Accommodations and Food
The West Monroe residential program houses 38 clients in double occupancy bedrooms. The home-like accommodations are spacious and comfortable, furnished with twin beds, and small lockers used for storage of personal items. The Shreveport facility has a larger campus with dorm buildings throughout the grounds. These dorms have a total bed count of 51, and include a full bathroom in each.
Each location offers weight rooms, sitting rooms, outdoor recreation spaces, and a “grand room,” with small cafe style tables and a couple of couches. Laundry facilities, admin buildings and therapeutic rooms are also on both campuses. The Shreveport campus has a large BBQ pit area, and the other location has a smaller, but still nice, BBQ in the outdoor rec space.
The on-site chef prepares and serves meals and snacks daily. The food at New Day Recovery is a point of pride, as one of the program’s beliefs is that a healthy and tasty meal is a crucial element to success in recovery. As a result, the menus consist of home-style cuisine that is delicious and nutritious.
Treatment and Staff
Clients begin their treatment experience with a thorough, on-site psycho-social assessment. Detox is a three to seven day process that uses medication to ease the withdrawal symptoms. A medical staff supervises detox 24 hours a day.
The residential treatment includes small group sessions, at least one individual session per week and medication management. If necessary, MAT offerings include Vivitrol and Suboxone.
The Christian counseling aspect of treatment uses scripture during group counseling sessions. Certified Christian Counselors facilitate the counseling. Consequently, this treatment model uses evidence-based methods that the American Association of Christian Counselors outlines.
An example of treatment methods here include CBT, DBT and Motivational Interviewing (MI). There are also on and off-site AA, NA and CA meetings on a daily basis.
Staff consists of medical doctors, psychiatric nurses, LPCs, LMSWs, LMFTs, CACs, and NCCs.
Extras
Clients go on group outings to the local park or to Celebrate Recovery meetings within the community.
Additional offerings includes weekly massages, basketball and opportunities to participate in other group sports and recreation.
In Summary
New Day Recovery in Louisiana is a CARF-accredited program that incorporates several different treatment approaches for a complete and supportive recovery experience. Above all, clients in both locations receive a comprehensive, personalized program that addresses their specific needs while also offering a respite from their everyday lives. The end result are people who will navigate their recovery armed with a strong foundation and continued support.
