The Basics

Alpha Recovery Center is a private agency that provides an individualized substance abuse treatment program to the Lawrence, Kansas community. Just a short distance from the capital city of Topeka, ARC offers an outpatient program that focuses on individual therapy allowing clients to schedule treatment around their work, family and life schedules.

Treatment and Staff

The outpatient program at ARC consists of two different tracks and clients are placed in the program determined to be the best fit after an initial assessment and evaluation. The level one education track consists of eight hours of weekly group therapy while the level two education group requires clients to commit to a total of 12 hours per week of both individual and group. Both tracks allow for additional individual counseling sessions as needed.

Group sessions are typically two-hours in length while individual sessions are one hour. Each case is managed as the client progresses through the program to determine if more individual counseling is necessary and how long the treatment program should last for the individual. DBT is the principle modality of treatment, with biofeedback available to help with self-regulation and coping skills for stress. ARC does not incorporate the 12-steps into their program. The staff at ARC consists of LCACs and LPCs.

Extras

ARC also offers intervention services for families in need of assistance with their loved one. Referral services are available for individuals requiring more extensive treatment. ARC is also certified to teach Alcohol and Drug Information Awareness Class (AISC).

In Summary

While ARC outpatient care specializes in one-on-one therapy, group sessions are also available. Clients in need of an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), detox or residential care should look elsewhere. Still, this two-track program uses evidence-based methods of treatment and allows clients to schedule sessions on their own time. This may be ideal for individuals who have already attended a primary program and need ongoing support services to maintain their long-term recovery goals.
