Rea of Hope Review
Rea of Hope is an organization in Charleston, West Virginia that specializes in the care of women in the early stages of recovery from alcohol and substance use disorders. Founded in 2005, it provides affordable sober living accommodations, around-the-clock supervision and a tight-knit community of peers. While the organization does not accept clients with acute co-occurring disorders, the 12-step recovery model is a cornerstone of the Rea of Hope experience.
Accommodations and Amenities
Rea of Hope offers a safe and supportive environment where residents can focus on their recovery journey. There are two homes and nine apartments, all of which are in quiet, residential neighborhoods far removed negative triggers. Both homes provides plenty of space, comfortable furnishings, large kitchens, backyards and a combined 14 beds.
Clients that complete their commitment at Rea of Hope and have maintained seven months of sobriety often transition into an apartment equipped with everything they need for independent living. Mothers are allowed to move-in their children.
The facility also provides opportunities to make connections in the community. This establishes trust and eases the transition back into regular life. In addition, it encourages residents to take advantage of courses on skills training and educational assistance.
Rules and Regulations
To be allowed for admission, individuals must have 30 days of sobriety, a willingness to commit to recovery and release all health records. Residents must promise to stay for at least six months and have completed either residential or outpatient treatment. The facility expects clients to obtain a 12-step sponsor and participate in a minimum of five meetings a week. Residents also must find and maintain employment, attend school or volunteer to remain at the facility.
Rea of Hope administers regular and random alcohol and drug tests. Residents that do not pass a screening are no longer welcome. Poor behaviors such as violence, theft and drug use result in immediate discharge. Finally, all residents must keep their area clean and perform daily chores.
In Summary
Rea of Hope provides substance-free living accommodations for women transitioning out of residential and outpatient treatment. The facility promotes 12-step involvement as an integral component of a successful, long-term recovery. In addition, it provides other valuable services and resources like GED prep, legal assistance and career planning. For anyone seeking a safe haven that empowers its residents, this is an excellent option.
