RedCliff Recovery Review
RedCliff Recovery is a residential treatment facility for women between the ages of 18 and 35 who are struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders. The program provides a comprehensive wilderness curriculum that incorporates a range of complementary therapeutic methods. Twelve-step recovery is an integral aspect to care.
Accommodations and Food
RedCliff Recovery is in a 1,000 square mile area in southwest Utah. A haven far removed from negative influences and triggers, it’s a stable, nurturing environment that is ideal for reflection and recovery. It also immerses residents in nature. When not camping in the wilderness, clients stay at an outpost equipped with a yurt, teepee tents, meeting areas and an amphitheater.
Healthy diet is an important aspect to the curriculum. As a result, they provide a nutritious menu designed to restore. They can accommodate clients with dietary allergies or restrictions.
Treatment and Staff
RedCliff Recovery aims to not only treat conditions but also to heal the “whole person.” Before beginning treatment, residents undergo a comprehensive intake assessment. It includes a family history, medical and psychiatric evaluation, as well as a complete account of substance use. The results determine the most effective individualized care plan tailored to address the specific needs and circumstances of the individual. Clients also immediately begin working with a case manager on an aftercare plan, which usually entails finding a 12-step network and a sponsor. While the length of treatment depends on the specific needs of the client, the typical stay lasts between 45 and 60 days.
The facility promotes empowerment through an integrative approach that incorporates an array of therapeutic methods into a wilderness curriculum. Clients engage in individual and group therapy rooted in CBT and DBT. Individuals also participate in weekly family therapy sessions over the phone. These sessions help families connect, improve communication and adjust negative behavioral patterns. There are also psychoeducation courses that focus on the disease of addiction and relapse prevention techniques like trigger identification.
RedCliff Recovery believes in the restorative quality of nature, especially when as it pertains to the mind-body connection. Consequently, residents go backpacking through the desert, rock climbing, fishing and biking. In addition, clients attend daily 12-step meetings. Through the wilderness curriculum, clients learn life skills and develop a deep connection to themselves, their community and nature.
The treatment team has LSWs, Master’s-level therapists, field counselors and a nursing team. Medical services are available for clients with co-occurring conditions.

Towards the end of the program, the facility helps clients find the best transitional treatment to fit their needs. This can include sober living, outpatient care and residential treatment.
