Cascade Pathways Review

Cascade Pathways is an outpatient treatment facility that has been serving several communities in Oregon since 2001. Programs are available to adults, adolescents and families. In addition to in-office services, Cascade Pathways also offers a number of experiential and wilderness based therapeutic experiences. Other programming options include 12-step and non-12-step support, gender-specific and co-ed group therapy, DUI education, individual counseling, and individualized plans.

Treatment and Staff

No two treatment plans are alike at Cascade Pathways. The treatment team is well versed in a variety of modalities and specializes in alternative approaches to addiction and dual diagnosis treatment. This includes methods that focus on relaxation, medication, mindfulness, identifying triggers, relapse prevention and coping mechanisms.

Though the outpatient track at Cascade Pathways offers several group therapy options, the main treatment services  are individual therapy sessions. If it seems, however, that a group therapy option would be more effective, then that is available to the client.

Cascade Pathways emphasizes the importance of small group numbers so no one gets lost or overlooked. The gender-specific groups address specific needs to men and women who are dealing with addiction in their lives. They cover topics such as self esteem, anger, and trauma. The adolescent addiction groups are heavily education based. As a result, they incorporate a lot of information and guidance when it comes to influences on the Internet, and additional addictions to things like video games and other forms of technology.

Other treatments at Cascade Pathways include support for medication management and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). There are also specific groups for clients who are on medications like Suboxone.

The state of Oregon sanctions the DUI program at this facility. Consequently, it offers the required hours of drug and alcohol education for those who have been convicted of driving under the influence.

Treatment protocols within both group and individual therapy are Motivational Interviewing (MI), CBT, Jungian, Emotionally Focused, and adventure therapies.

Services are available both in office and over video conferencing.

Hal Darst is the owner and operator of Cascade Pathways. He is a CADC. There is also a medical doctor on staff and an LCSW.

In Summary

What Cascade Pathways really strives to do is help clients get through their addiction and discover what goals they would like to achieve, and figure out ways to achieve those goals. The environment is open and caring, and offers a great deal of support in a personalized manner. Above all, the advice and treatment is logical and effective. Programming gives clients the tools to make the right changes in their lives. Perhaps most noteworthy, the treatment is very affordable too.
