Silver Sands Recovery is a Prescott, Arizona based treatment facility. It specializes in treating individuals struggling with heroin and opiate addiction and/or a dual diagnosis. The program also caters specifically to clients who have a history of frequent relapse. Treatment at Silver Sands includes a medical detox and 12-step protocols. Perhaps most noteworthy, Silver Sands Recovery is a fairly new treatment facility in Arizona. The owner, Lisa Waknin, founded this facility after realizing that her own daughter was an addict. Accommodations and Food

The private accommodations for men and women in this program consist of gender-specific housing in a residential neighborhood of Prescott. The facilities are fully furnished and home-like. Clients share bedrooms with several other clients but because the rooms are spacious, they are still very comfortable. There are 40 beds in total. Common areas of the facility include a living room space, kitchen and dining room.

Nutrition is a staple of the treatment. As a result, the meals are very healthy. There is a chef on staff who cooks all the food. The cuisine offers tasty, balanced choices that fall under the “clean eating” category.

Treatment and Staff

At the intake meeting a staff member evaluates the client both psychologically and physically. After the initial detox, which lasts around five to seven days on average, Silver Sands places clients into the appropriate residential program. These programs combine 12-step protocols with a holistic approach that serves the client as a whole.

There are on-site AA meetings. In fact, that is the first thing that clients usually start with once they are in the program. Co-occurring disorder treatment includes medication management.

Clients attend group and individual therapy. These sessions utilize evidence-based therapy approaches such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Somatic Experiencing.

On staff there are primary therapists, RNs, SACs, LASACs and LPCs. There is also a psychiatrist who serves as the medical director.

Extras

There are a number of complementary treatment options, one being equine therapy.

Finally, participants can also expect several outings on the weekends. Residents enjoy group sports like golf, basketball and softball, exercise and other outdoor activities like hiking.
