Clearview Women’s Center Outpatient Review

Clearview Women’s Center is a treatment organization located in Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It provides residential care as well as a comprehensive Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and standard outpatient services. The facility specializes in the care of clients with mental health conditions, eating disorders and substance use disorders. It’s evidence-based programming with a specific focus on DBT therapy and coaching. Medication management is available. The staff encourages clients struggling with alcohol and substance use disorders to participate in the local 12-step community.

Treatment and Staff

The PHP and IOP are ideal for clients transitioning out of the residential plan, or who require therapy but are unable to commit to an inpatient program. The outpatient care allows clients to have a consistent therapeutic structure without taking time away from work, school or family obligations.

Before beginning treatment, clients undergo a pre-treatment session that assesses their personal medical and psychiatric history as well as an account of substance use. The results of the pre-session help the Clearview team decide the most effective personalized treatment to address the specific needs and goals of the individual. The PHP is seven hours a day Monday through Friday.

Upon completion, many clients transition immediately into the flexible IOP, which is three hours of therapy a day, between three and five days a week. While the residential program is exclusively for women, the outpatient programming is also open to men and limited to nine participants. Because it’s an intimate setting, the community fosters closeness among clients but also plenty of one-on-one attention.

DBT as is the therapeutic cornerstone of treatment. Clients engage in daily individual and group sessions with therapists and coaches highly trained in DBT. In addition, Clearview integrates a host of supplemental therapies for a well-rounded therapy experience. The team utilizes other evidence-based therapies like CBT and ACT.

The multidisciplinary Clearview team consists of psychiatrists, therapists, facilitators, dietitians, nutritionists, a yoga and art teacher. Credentials include PhD, PsyD and MD. Clients with co-occurring conditions meet regularly with a psychiatrist for consultations and medication management.

Extras

General wellness is another important facet to recovery. As a result, the facility places a premium on mind-body wellness through a focus on diet, exercise and recreation. Clients can expect to participate in holistic practices such as yoga, art therapy and mindfulness meditation.

For clients that want to continue seeing their outside therapist, Clearview offers a DBT-informed track that allows individuals to pick and choose group sessions, case management, coaching and psychiatric services.

Finally, for clients not local to the Los Angeles are, Clearview can find space in a partnering transitional living facility.
