Accommodations and Food
There are 70 beds in total at Middleton St. George. They separate men and women within five wards. Every client has their own bedroom and bathroom. There is also a three-bed, step-down transitional facility on campus for men only. Those are stand alone apartment style units.

Treatment and Staff
Within the wards the main focus is treating clients with complex mental illnesses, such as personality disorders, and disorders that combine behavioral health issues with substance abuse. These wards vary from locked facilities to open units that are helping clients work towards transitioning out of treatment.
Clients in these programs are, for the most part, referrals from other agencies like prisons or intensive inpatient programs. However, some clients come to this facility on their own accord because they are experiencing a crisis and need support.
Treatment employs a evidence-based approaches during group and individual therapy. Women with traumatic events in their pasts have regular DBT and trauma-informed care groups weekly.
Within some of the units there is a “safe wards” approach. This uses a fully collaborative and open method of treatment and de-escalates tension or conflict. Clients practice saying positive things about each other and have meetings with staff every day.
In addition to traditional treatment methods, clients also have art and music therapy and recreational therapies. Finally, clients also focus on relapse prevention, managing moods and reactions and communication within the community.
Therapists and support staff are psychiatrists, occupations psychologists, nurses, social workers and case managers, and fitness instructors.
In Summary
The Middleton St. George facility of Priory Hospital offers comfortable surroundings and a wide variety of treatment options. Regardless of the level of care, every client receives personalized and comprehensive programming. Above all, every day clients take part in their recovery and actively work towards their return to their communities.
