The Basics
Achieving Community Enrichment (ACE) Support Services is a community-based organization that provides mental, emotional, behavioral and substance abuse counseling. ACE was founded in 2009 in Marietta, Georgia. Providing outpatient programs to children, adolescents, adults and families, it specializes in Intensive Family Intervention (IFI) services. ACE serves clients in the counties of Bartow, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Newton, Paulding and Rockdale. The primary purpose of ACE’s outpatient program is to help clients rebuild their family units while also meeting individual treatment goals.
Treatment and Staff
Clients begin treatment by completing a bio-psycho-social assessment and substance use evaluation. Nurses conduct assessments and, if applicable, make arrangements for medication management. Staff help clients develop individualized treatment plans. One unique aspect of outpatient treatment is that therapists and counselors at ACE offer in-home therapy to literally meet clients where they are in recovery. Nurses and physicians make house calls, too. Staff include MFTs, LCSWs, LPCs, CADCs and psychiatrists.
The primary outpatient option is the CORE program. It’s comprised of crises intervention, team-building, psychiatric/psychological testing and community-based services and throughout the course of treatment, staff encourage clients to identify resources within the community that can edify their own recovery. ACE offers a unique variety of activities organized around community transition planning. CORE also includes family and group counseling. Adult group classes are available six hours per week and children group classes are three hours per week. Group topics include anger management, coping skills, independent living, mental health education, crisis intervention, parenting skills and behavior modification. The primary focus of groups is to help clients stabilize their home environments to prevent displacement and disruptive living atmospheres.
Therapists and Master’s-level mental health professionals lead the previously mentioned Intensive Family Intervention (IFI) team, where clients participate in intensive individua therapy and family programming. A team of clinicians, school representatives and community organizations are invited to participate in the community-oriented process. Children and adolescents who participate in this program have an average length of treatment of 90 days.
ACE Community Support Services is accredited by CARF, ASAM, Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) and the National Corrective Thinking Institute (NCTI). It is not affiliated with any 12-step recovery programs.
Extras
Diversion Treatment focuses on at-risk adolescents who have entered the juvenile justice system. There is a separate health and wellness program, Live & Thrive, where clients can learn more about holistic living for mental and physical well-being.
In Summary
ACE Community Support Services is not a typical outpatient treatment center. The group-centered programs focus on rebuilding and healing individuals as a community, which is similar to the approach of the White Bison Wellbriety curriculum. ACE Community Support Services staff go above and beyond to help clients achieve success in sobriety, and they are willing to make house calls to do it.
