The Basics
Located in the city of Asheville, North Carolina, Second Chance Sober Living provides sober accommodations for men in the beginning stages of recovery from alcohol and substance use disorders. Founded in 2016, Second Chance Sober Living is staffed entirely by individuals living in recovery that understand the trials and everyday challenges of getting sober. In addition to upscale sober housing, Second Chance also provides life skills training and an immersion into 12-step.
Accommodations and Amenities
Second Chance Sober Living is a community of four single-family houses situated in quiet, upscale residential neighborhoods. The homes have industrial sized kitchens and dining rooms for group meals, as well as large open living rooms with leather couches, TVs and fireplaces. There are areas for socializing, like patios, decks and common rooms.
While some private rooms are available for an extra fee, most residents share a room with a roommate. The bedrooms are equipped with beds ranging from twin to queen-sized, closet space and basic furnishings. The facility provides free cable TV, WiFi and an on-site laundry, as well as kitchen and cleaning supplies.
Rules and Regulations
Second Chance provides individualized support customized to meet the specific goals of the resident. In addition to living sober, the facility helps individuals reach their career and education goals. Residents are provided with an array of services including food stamp assistance, legal support and help finding a job.
Residents at Second Chance are immersed in the 12-step community and required to attend at least five 12-step meetings a week in the community. They also must attend a weekly meeting that covers house issues and provides an opportunity for sharing. The facility regularly tests for alcohol and substances. Also, in order to stay in one of the homes residents must be employed soon after moving in.

Second Chance is ideal for clients transitioning out of a residential program, as well as individuals in an outpatient program.
