The Basics
Based out of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, Brainspark Health is a holistic, outpatient-based detox facility that offers flexible programs for clients struggling with addiction and other behavioral health disorders. Unlike many medically-oriented detox facilities, Brainspark Health focuses on holistic care methods and NAD therapy, a relatively new treatment designed to replenish neurotransmitters in the brain.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all clients go through an intake and assessment process to help the staff members determine their needs. After these initial meetings, all clients begin a detox process that typically lasts for eight to 10 days. During each of these days, they participate in an IV NAD infusion for six to eight hours. Though the facility is outpatient-based, clients can stay in quiet, private rooms throughout this process where they can rest, read, go online and otherwise relax. Similarly, all participants can also enjoy on-site meals throughout their stay from nearby groceries stores or catered in. While 12-step participation is not a required part of the program, clients can get referrals to meetings as necessary.
The staff at Brainspark Health consists of psychiatric nurses, additional RNs, massage therapists, acupuncturists, Reiki practitioners and additional Master’s-level clinicians.
Extras
In addition to the methods mentioned above, clients can also a host of holistic care groups during their time at Brainspark as well. Though each plan may vary, these activities can include acupuncture and Reiki massage.
Additionally, the facility also works with special BRIDGE devices to help with withdrawal symptoms. It works by attaching some small electrodes behind a client’s ear to stimulate nerves in the brain to block withdrawal-related pain signals. The device is FDA-approved and non-invasive.
Once clients complete therapy, they can also work with staff members to develop step-down aftercare plans as necessary.
In Summary
In all, Brainspark Health represents a new approach to treating addiction. While most detox facilities focus on getting clients engaged in a 12-step program, using evidence-based counseling practices and supplementing with psychotropic medications, this program focuses primarily on brain health. Participants attend daily NAD infusions to replenish their neurotransmitters while attending holistic groups to heal them in mind and spirit. Although clients in need of more intensive psychiatric supervision may want to seek additional aid as well, Brainspark Health remains a strong resource for those looking for an a different approach to detox.
