The Basics
With facilities in Woburn, Brookline and Lowell, Massachusetts, Bournewood Health Systems is a private psychiatric hospital with a full continuum of services for clients dealing with addiction and co-occurring disorders. The organization has a broad range of staff members with several diverse certifications as well as programs for many different needs. In addition to its outpatient and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), Bournewood also offers more intensive inpatient care.
Accommodations and Food
The Bournewood Health Systems’ residential facility is located on 12 wooded acres in Brookline with a total of 90 beds available in both shared and private rooms. The residence is relatively clinical throughout and includes twin beds, storage space and basic decor. In addition to the client rooms, there are also therapy rooms, common areas with cable TV and an on-site cafeteria. Throughout their stay, all residents are served three meals a day as well as snacks.
Treatment and Staff
Before beginning a program, all participants go through an intake and assessment to help the staff members develop their care plans. As a fully functioning medical facility, those in need of detox and stabilization services can do so on-site before transitioning into treatment.
While each treatment plan may vary depending on each client’s needs, plans typically include individual, group and family therapy with evidence-based treatment practices like CBT and DBT. Group sessions cover many different topics including life skills, emotional processing, relapse prevention, trigger identification and dual diagnosis issues. While 12-step participation is not always required, it may be encouraged in some cases. Medication management is also available whenever necessary.
The staff at Bournewood Health Systems consists of psychiatrists, doctors, nurses, LMHCs, LCSWs and additional Master’s-level and PhD-level clinicians.
Extras
Many different other outpatient programs are available including specific PHP treatment tracks for adolescents. Re-entry planning services are offered along with standalone psychiatric assessments.
Those who complete a primary care regimen can also work with the staff members to develop step-down aftercare and discharge plans too.
In Summary
In all, Bournewood Health Systems provides a wide range of services for clients dealing with addiction and other behavioral health issues. All treatment plans are individualized and include evidence-based counseling, psychiatric guidance and medical oversight. While the cost of these programs may vary depending on clients’ needs and their insurance strength, the inpatient programs available through Bournewood Health Systems are a strong resource for those in the area.
