Inner City Health Center

The Basics

Inner City Health Center is a Christ-centered health care organization located in Denver, Colorado which offers therapeutic care to adults and children with mental health and substance abuse issues. Using an individualized approach to recovery, clients receive treatment for drug and alcohol abuse as well as a range of issues including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, grief and domestic violence. The bilingual counselors work to ensure that each client’s mental and emotional needs are met. Sessions are conducted on an individual basis using evidence-based therapies including CBT and DBT.

Treatment and Staff

ICHC is equipped to treat adults, teens and children, primarily with traditional talk therapy. From substance abuse to mental and behavioral health, clients with a wide range of afflictions can find relief at this facility. Because more structured outpatient programs are not available, clients work with assigned counselors to create their own schedules of one-on-one sessions. Referrals to outside detox, residential and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOPs) are made upon request.

All individual therapy sessions are an hour long and occur under the guidance of a counselor. Clients are taught coping, communication and relapse prevention skills. At the beginning of each program it is recommended that clients come at least once a week, with more sessions added as necessary. Once they gain more stability, sessions can be reduced to twice a month and then eventually once a month.

Those interested in family therapy can schedule additional appointments with their loved ones and their counselor. In these sessions issues of codependency, communication and boundaries are addressed. The staff is composed of Master’s-level therapists.

Extras

ICHC is planning on adding educational workshops on various health and emotional wellness topics as well as group counseling in the future.
