The Basics

Founded in 2014, The Oaks House Sober Living provides a safe, upscale sober living home for men and women about 35 miles northwest of Los Angeles. The Oaks House emphasizes 12-step involvement and provides an atmosphere designed to nurture newcomers, while still offering structure and accountability. The safe, suburban neighborhood is home to a thriving recovery community, shopping, restaurants and California Lutheran University.

Accommodations and Amenities

The Oaks House is a tidy, tan split-level home with a pool in the backyard. The house accommodates up to seven men and women, with both single and double-occupancy gender-specific rooms available. Except for the single, clients are paired in comfortably furnished rooms, which include full or twin beds, dressers and shared closet and storage space. There are two full bathrooms—one for men and one for women.

Residents are provided with home-cooked dinners four days a week. The rest of the time, they are responsible for their own food, and meals can be prepared in the fully equipped kitchen. Amenities include WiFi, cable TV, parking and free on-site laundry. The house has a live-in residential manager to provide oversight and support.

Rules and Regulations

Prior to admission, potential clients must have already completed detox. Weekly requirements  for residents include being at the house meetings and attending at least five 12-step meetings. Clients must also remain active during the week and attend school, work or participate in an outpatient program.

The curfew is 10 pm Sundays through Thursdays, and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Random drug and alcohol screenings are conducted. At The Oaks House, a zero tolerance policy is conducted, and residents who relapse are immediately evicted from the premises.

Extras

The Oaks House offers in house AA meetings twice a week, complimentary memberships to Gold’s Gym and transportation to and from the gym as well as local AA meetings. The house does fun group activities every weekend like recovery events, trips to the beach, sports games and concerts.

In Summary

Men and women looking for a sober living that feels like home will find The Oaks House Sober Living a great fit. The Oaks House provides a serene and safe ambience, so that clients can establish a strong foothold in recovery and focus on rebuilding their lives.
