The Basics

Located in Sonoma County’s Santa Rosa, California, Solid Recovery is a structured sober living program which provides a safe and stable environment for men in recovery from addiction and co-occurring disorders. The organization has two houses in the Santa Rosa area, both of which provide 12-step oriented care and various life skills groups to help residents reintegrate into society.

Accommodations and Amenities

Solid Recovery provides two homes for men with 30 beds available. Bedrooms are typically shared between two to three residents each. The rooms have basic accommodations including twin beds, end tables, dressers and shared closet space. In addition to the bedrooms, each of the locations has all the features of a regular home including meeting rooms, shared living areas with cable TV, WiFi throughout, dining areas and fully-equipped kitchens. Throughout their stay, all clients are expected to grocery shop and prepare their own meals.

Rules and Regulations

Like many sober living programs, those who attend Solid Recovery must remain active in AA/NA and work the steps. All clients are also expected to do basic chores around the house which often include keeping rooms clean, minding the common areas and pitching in with kitchen duties. Throughout their stay, residents are also expected to either attend outpatient therapy, volunteer, pursue further education or get a job. In addition to all the above, residents must also avoid relapse to stay in good standing at the home—and are also regularly and randomly drug tested.

Other services include life skills presentations and occasional lectures at the house on a number of rotating topics. Referrals to nearby meetings and outpatient treatment programs are also available as necessary. More specifically, those seeking aftercare services can be referred to nearby outpatient treatment options.

Overall, Solid Recovery provides a safe and stable environment for men in early recovery and serves as a good transitional option for clients just out of primary care. While residents are allowed plenty of independence, the homes also include house meetings, AA/NA teachings and other life skills sessions, all at an affordable price.
