The Basics

Fire Sky Ranch in Lubbock, Texas is a specialized substance abuse treatment program for men. As part of the larger Aspire Recovery Centers family, Fire Sky offers a full continuum of care for men that includes programs ranging from residential, outpatient and sober living with a variety of treatment tracks; including a long-term residential program for college-age men and a specialized program for mature men who need to get back to their careers and families in 30 days or less.

Accommodations and Food

Set on 500 acres of ranchland, the 7,500 square foot Fire Sky men’s estate has space for up to 10 residents. The men have the option for a private room with a queen bed, upon availability, or they can share double-occupancy bedrooms that are furnished with twin beds and come equipped with personal storage space and shared bathrooms. Common areas include workout equipment, a game area and media room with cable TV.

All meals are prepared by a chef and served family-style with clients occasionally assisting in meal preparation. The chef ensures that the food prepared is healthy but with comfort food options. Coffee and tea are served throughout the day.

Treatment and Staff

The Fire Sky residential program requires clients to be physically stable and not in need of detox. The New Start Collegiate track is a 90-day program for college age men. Fire Sky is close to Texas Tech so this program draws from that population. The Reintegration Adult program is designed for men who have an established career and family system waiting for their return. The treatment process in both tracks incorporates the 12 steps and follows a modified therapeutic community model the first two weeks of treatment and focuses on getting the client acclimated to the program. During this time, they are paired with a supportive peer. Clients participate in multiple group sessions daily, which cover topics like relationships, conflict resolution and spirituality. Additionally, psycho-education classes give clients knowledge about themselves and the disease of addiction.

Clients are required to attend 12-step meetings both on and off site. Individual therapy is introduced as well as special groups for dual diagnosis support. All therapy is facilitated by male LADCs that utilize CBT techniques. Clients may receive medication management and additional assessments by a staff psychiatrist. Medical services are provided as well, including HIV/AIDS treatment and classes on self-care.

The Aspire Recovery organization is headed by Robin Casey, LCDC, who serves as CEO. The staff of Fire Sky includes nurses, a psychiatrist, Master’s-level therapists, CADCs and support staff available on campus 24-hours a day.

Extras

Clients are encouraged to focus on their general health and wellness by learning about nutrition and exercise, relaxation techniques and risk reduction. Aftercare is available in the form of outpatient therapy and sober living referrals.

Family members of clients meet once a month for a group that offers addiction education and support. Aspire Recovery is in the process of developing a weekend intensive family program called Aspire Recovery University. This program will teach loved ones about addiction, self-care and healthy communication.

In Summary

Fire Sky Ranch provides men with a highly structured environment for personal development in early recovery. Clients support each other and build a foundation for a new way of life. Through a combination of therapy and building life skills, men at Fire Sky are prepared for a life in recovery.
