The Basics
Located in the beachside community of Laguna Hills, in southern California, Harmony Heals provides outpatient treatment for substance abuse and mental health. It also offers detox and residential treatment at its nearby facility in Laguna Beach. Harmony Heals specializes in trauma-informed care and uses a number of evidence-based, holistic and alternative healing modalities to help clients process the trauma that’s impacted their addiction. Harmony Heals also provides intervention services.
Harmony Heals is owned and operated by married couple Gina H. Tabrizy and Farid Tabrizy. Gina, an LMFT, is the facility’s clinical director, and Farid, who has an extensive background in massage therapy and martial arts, is its CEO. Harmony Heals Counseling has been in operation for 30 years and opened its detox and residential facility three years ago.
Treatment and Staff
Most clients enter treatment at the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) level of care. Most IOP treatment plans are eight to 12 weeks. Clients meet for group therapy four times a week and have individual therapy at least once a week. Clients are also encouraged to attend 12-step or SMART Recovery meetings outside of treatment. Therapy uses CBT, DBT, shame reduction, psychodrama, EMDR, neurofeedback and guided imagery.
The treatment team includes MFTs, CATCs, psychologists, a psychiatrist for dual diagnosis support and a physician who can prescribe Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) with Suboxone.
Extras
Clients may elect to participate in Harmony Heals’ Customized IOP (or CIOP), which incorporates additional modalities into treatment plan such as equine therapy, massage therapy and nutritional counseling.
Once clients have completed their IOP treatment plan, they may step down to standard outpatient treatment of group therapy once or twice a week. After completing standard outpatient, clients receive a free year of aftercare.
For aftercare, clients may attend a weekly relapse prevention group for up to a year free of charge. Harmony Heals can also work with families of IOP patients in family therapy, and the IOP holds periodic family workshops on Saturdays for additional support and recovery education.
